Quick Start



Confirm your iPhone® and your computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network then open 3Director Server on your Apple Macintosh. The application can support up to eight different devices.

Launch 3Director application on one or more iPhone®.
When you see the following splash window tap on Continue.



When you see again the splash window tap on MIDI Setup. If you are using 3Director to control an X-spat boX system you do not need to change anything and you can close this window clicking on the Back button.
Otherwise, at the bottom of MIDI Setup window tap on the X button.
Choose the preferred Control Change message and the desired MIDI channel number. Repeat the operation for the Y and the Z tapping on the relative buttons. In the top right of the window tap on the Back button.

On the computer hosting 3Director Server, first of all active the desired channel strip(s) using the Active slider(s). Then set the desired MIDI Device port and the range of space, in centimeters, inside which you will move each iPhone®. Set the Send slide to On for each channel strip you need to use. Press the "Start Tracking" button and you are ready to go.

In the splash window of 3Director on iPhone®, tap on 3D button.
You will see the camera view. Just frame the performer for five seconds then start to follow him moving the iPhone in order to continuously frame him. Be sure to do this in the more natural way, that is slightly bending the iPhone® when you move it. We will add as soon as possible a demo video on this page. The accelerometer will detect the movement of the device in any directions and the software will translate them in MIDI messages. The MIDI messages will be sent, via Wi-Fi, to the 3Director Server application located on the connected computer.

3Director Server, on your computer, will collect data from up to eight devices and, just in case your performer is dancing or jumping, will detect also vertical movements...

3Director can be used also in 2D to send x and y coordinates.

3Director, for the reason mentioned above, is the ideal complement for See'n'Sound and X-spat boX², any version.
